Term Definition
Visual Display The main reason to use a slide show when presenting information to an audience. It gives the audience something to look at
PlaceHolder The name for the boxes with dotted boarders that contain content such as text, a picture, a chart
Slide Layout How placeholders for text, videos, pictures, charts, shapes, etc. are arranged on a slide
Transition The movement of a slide as it changes to the next slide
Animations Controls how objects (text & pictures) move on a slide, and the order they appear on a slide
Slide Sorter View Displays all slides in your presentation in miniature form on one screen
Bullets For general list of items when the order of items does NOT matter
Numbered List When the order the items are in matters
Document Header Text that is included at the top of the document, before any other text (usually includes important information)
Margins Invisible lines that keep text away from the edges of the page
Clipboard The clipboard stores text or pictures. (Copy and Paste)
Hanging Indent When all of the lines are indented except for the first line
Line Spacing Space between each line in a paragraph
Replace tool Tool you use to find and replace a word with another word
[+] Button The button that selects everything in the table
Landscape When you want your page to be wide and not as long (sideways)
Alignment A placement of the text that is relative to the margins
Template Word processing software that refers to a sample document that has already some details in place (formatted)
Citation Giving credit to the place, site, or book that you got your information
Endnote Additional information that is given at the end of the document
Footnote An explanation on a term or word that appears on the bottom of the page
